Just picked up "GOT MY MENTAL," after hearing "Sham Time" on a local station at 3 A.M.! Had to order it before I fell back asleep. Absolutely the best vibe I've felt all year. Obviously, more purchases will follow. Thanks for lighting up the darkness.

I got "THE SUITCASE" this week and am absolutely loving it! I'm still wearing out my copy of "GOT MY MENTAL", but it is splitting time with "Suitcase." Had to break out "CHORD KHANCEPTS" and dig back in! Thanks for this site, Steve. The Korner is wonderful!

Hi Steve! I'm the DJ in Portland, Maine who spins your music at least once a month - I happened to spin the "Face Value" radio-edit this week, and thought I'd drop by. I am thrilled that "THE SUITCASE" is available, and will bully my local music store to get me a copy, and a couple more for the people who come in to buy it after I feature that sucker on-air. I can't wait! All the best this year, John Dennison

Just picked up "THE SUITCASE" today!
Wow, love it!! Wonderful set. I have loved listening to "BORROWED TIME" over the last year, and was happy to see that the "THE SUITCASE" had come out recently. "Melancholee" is fabulous.....beautiful. I would have never guessed that you were playing an ES-335. Your guitar sounds much more like a big jazz box, and I don't know how you get that sound from a 335. Come out to Seattle more often!! :)

I'm so glad to find your website, and haven't moved all the way through it as yet. I am listening now to my new copy of "THE SUITCASE" (Bravissimo!) and, I'm wondering if the first three Eyewitness recordings will be re-issued? I do hope they will. I had them, among others of yours on LP, but lost them during my move from Minnesota to New Mexico in the early '90s. Your music is a gift to the universe. Thank you.

Steve, I just got "THE SUITCASE" and all I can say is wow....a big fat WOW! I can't put into words how that music makes me feel. I'm blown away by everything: the tunes, the playing, and the recording quality is unbelievable. This is going to be in my listening rotation for indefinitely. On the back cover it states that it was recorded direct to digital and to a 2-track master. I do a lot of live mixing and recording of all kinds of music, and "THE SUITCASE" is probably the best sounding live recording I've ever heard. Hell, I think it's better than a lot of multi-tracked studio recordings I've heard. I'd swear it was multi-tracked, and if it wasn't for the applause, I'd think it was a studio recording. Anyway, I just can't thank you enough for all the great music over the years. I hope there will be more in the future.

Dear Steve: Good news! My wife got me "THE SUITCASE" for my birthday, a little late but worth the wait! What a KILLER CD! 3 bullets for a long gun, 3 arrows for a long bow! The band KILLS, deadly, deadly, deadly!! You play all the old tunes so great, I can't stop listening. The band must be great buddies to communicate the way you guys do. I'm blown away!!!
Thank you once again for all the enjoyment you give to me, and the rest of the world, 2009 will be a better year! Take care, regards - Jiggs

Dear Mr. Khan: I cannot thank you enough for your wonderful "CHORD KHANCEPTS" book. Though a Berklee trained bassist, I always wanted to play harmony melodically on the guitar, and your book has allowed me to do so. A great work in a sea of confusing or incomplete guitar methods. A Mickey Baker for the millennium! Best, Cyrus

Steve: Really loved your essay that mentioned Laurence Olivier in "MARATHON MAN" which has always been my top favorite movie. I loved the connection between his art and our own pursuit for excellence. Thanks for reminding us that even our idols have their own insecurities, and that we simply need to pursue our own excellence. Thanks also for the transcriptions, and the analyses are just perfect for those of us hungry for the thought process behind the art. Cheers, Jeff
