Glad to hear you have a new record coming out. If I can help promote it (other than when I buy it) let me know. There are few jazz stations in S. Texas that might play it, and I bet you could fill-up a concert venue in Austin if you go on the road. Have you been to any hockey games this year? It looks like the Rangers might make the playoffs. Take care, and good luck in 2011.

Steve! What fantastic news, I just read the homepage. Can't wait to hear your "PARTING SHOT" during 2011. Sounds like it's going to be another great one. It's wonderful that you and Anthony Jackson have recorded together again, and with Dennis and Manolo too!!! Merry Christmas and the best of everything in the new year.

Dear Steve Khan, It's unfair to point out one album from your impressive body of work - but that's what I'm gonna do here. 26 years ago, at age 24, I got my first real job as a registrator of records in The Danish Radio Corporation. The first album I registrated on my very own was "CASA LOCO" - it immediately blew my mind, and it's still a treasure in my record collection! It's so very inspired!!!! I've always felt there was/is something magical about it, and reading your commentary about the album on your site confirms this intuition of mine! With thanks, Jan

Steve: You are 1,000% correct! When one behaves impulsively and thoughtlessly, the results can be hurtful, and disastrous! I appreciate the things that you write to us at these pages. Wishing you the best of everything for the remainder of 2010, and always! - Terry

Steve: It is a pleasure to visit your site. Your taste is exquisite and your knowledge of music deep. I was especially glad to read your analysis of Gabor Szabo's "Spellbinder" solo. I first heard this track many, many years ago as a teenager in the late '60s. It was one of the first albums I bought. The first was Vince Guaraldi's "CAST YOUR FATE TO THE WIND" that included his variation on music from "BLACK ORPHEUS." Colin Bailey and Monte Budwig, I think, accompanied him. In any case, I found your analysis of "Spellbinder" spot on, and, as always, you helped me to better understand what is taking place in a piece of music I like. Anyway, thank you for your chord and pentatonic books, your tasteful playing, and your gracious willingness to share your knowledge on this site. All the best, Mike

Hi Steve - Longtime enthusiast here, I recently got my turntable working again so I could spin some LPs of your stuff, great! I have an Ibanez EBL5 pedal case that I'm not currently using, and I'm thinking about selling it if you or one of your fans is interested, please contact me about the pedalboard. As you're aware, it's ideal for traveling, and mine has been all over. Best to you, Jerry

Hey Steve, Love the pictures you posted in the NEWS section. I wonder why Peter's position is transposed compared to the photo of Lionel? Whatcha been up to lately? Have you been to any Yankee games this year? Looks like the Rays are their only competition in the division this year. Well, enjoy the summer, and I hope you have some new recordings on the way. Take care, Dave Z.

Hello Steve! I wrote to you about 30 years ago; offering to do cover art for an album. You wrote back and thanked me for the offer, but stayed with Jean-Michel Folon. "THE BLUE MAN" was out at the time. I'm finally getting around to recording my old albums onto my computer to make MP3 files, and came across your old albums, so I thought I would check the web to see what you have been up to. I'll have to give your recent stuff a listen (my tastes in jazz are probably more in line with your newer stuff than your older stuff). I lived down the street from Bruce Saunders growing-up; have you run across him over the years?

Hi Steve! I was looking up the song "The Breeze and I" because I can't get it out of my head, and I hadn't bothered to load it into iTunes - lazy, but lucky break, it brought me to your website, and a Pat Martino transcription with your commentary. Your judgment is spot-on regarding its tastefulness and art. Looking forward to catching you next time you come around.

I just purchased "THE SUITCASE"- OMG, this recording is incredible! Some of the best chord melody/solo stuff I've ever heard. Dennis Chambers plays amazingly. Anthony Jackson's Intro on the title cut is one of the most inventive bass solos ever. I know it's been out for over a year now, but my wallet went on a diet last year. Congratulations on a great release! Any more recordings with this group in the future?
