Hi Steve, Was listening to "Your Secret's Safe With Me" from Michael Franks the other day. Such an underrated tune. Superb guitar work from you, as usual, and I love the overall Rob Mounsey production quality. Very crisp and clean. Music doesn't sound like that anymore, at least not in the mainstream. Ironic how during the 1980s there was so much optimism about what the future would hold, yet here we are in the 2020s, people are longing for the past, even those who didn't actually experience it. Dear Steve, I'm writing to express my gratitude for everything that you have shared with your amazing musical talents. I'm located in California, a bit north of San Diego, although born and raised in the Berkeley/Oakland area. The San Francisco Bay area was a magical place for live music in the '70s and early '80s, and I'm sure well before that. I was born in 1960, so I missed out on some of the pioneers that visited before my time hitting the clubs and concerts. My first experience hearing your music was sometime around 1978. KJAZ up in Northern California played "An Eye Over Autumn" one evening, and I was struck with an overwhelming feeling of joy, happiness and absolute inspiration. To this day I still get that happy feeling when hearing your compositions and GUITAR playing. You are an incredible artist and I am sure a wonderful person.

Hello Steve, just wanted to say you are my favorite jazz guitarist. I think your phrasing, chording approach and tone are beautiful and unique. In the NYU Interview, your humility and deference to other greats is refreshing. I studied Jazz Guitar in undergrad school, and was fortunate to take lessons with Joe Pass. Got to meet Jim Hall. I gravitate to playing more rock/fusion stuff - Eric Johnson, Scott Henderson, etc. I really enjoy all your albums "CROSSINGS," "PATCHWORK," etc. It's rare to find guitar led/oriented albums that remain as interesting as yours do. Your outro solo on "My Rival" is sublime - just as impactful as L.C.'s "Kid Charlemagne." Thanks for all your great work, very much takes me to another place listening. Take care, Matt

Dear Steve, I'm a guitar player and teacher from Vienna, Austria. Born in 1964, raised with Beatles & Stones, later Charlie Parker, Mahavishnu, Weather Report, you name it.... And, off course, Steely Dan! Tried to catch all those Carlton solos and chords, moved on to Robben Ford, Carlos Rios, Scott Henderson, all those great Jazz players (Montgomery, Pass, Hall, Benson, Martino, Sco', Metheny....)

Hi Mr. Khan, huge fan. I'm not sure how I first stumbled upon your music, but I am glad I did. The first thing I heard was "Blades" on "MODERN TIMES," then I realized that album is live! Wow, Very good! I've turned you on to my dad as well, you and whatever band(s) you are playing with on these albums are solid, and a lot of them are live/one take. Anyway, I'm just an 18 year old kid from Ohio wondering if I'll ever get to see Steve Khan live! Or at the very least send him an e-mail, have a good day!

Steve, Thank you for "Duck Ankles." I have been a David Sanborn fan since I first heard him in the early '80s when I was a young aspiring alto saxophonist. I have been diligently working through his discography before and during the pandemic to understand more about his development as an artist, and I keep coming back to the incredible composing on that first album, "TAKING OFF." All who contributed to the album wrote some amazing compositions that came to life with amazing personnel on the sessions. I have enjoyed transcribing the album and crank "Duck Ankles" driving around town with the windows down. It is a great chart! If you could ever find and share the arrangement, it would make a killer big band arrangement as well. Sincerely, Roberto

Still have my tickets, waiting for the postponed Steely Dan, Steve Winwood concert tour to be definitively re-scheduled - and it got me thinking: "Are either bands looking for an ace guitarist? Been enjoying your wonderful jazz/fusion music ever since I first heard "THE BLUE MAN." What glorious tone! Even looking to buy an Ibanez DCF10 pedal now. Thanks for all the years of great tunes. One quick question: I heard somewhere in a forum, or on some website or on some LP's liner notes that you used to/or at one time played/recorded your guitar with these huge slabs of granite or something like that on either side of you. Am I just dreaming this? Or is there some kernel of truth in this "rumour"? Thanks!

Finally was able to listen to your "Bleeding Orchid"(Chick Corea). What a great arrangement! Fantastic Rhodes sound and the guitar sounds absolutely beautiful also. Your recordings always sound so amazing. The music and the playing are always exceptional, and there is just this amazing elegance to the sound. I have that Joe Farrell record, but I've never paid enough attention to it. I'm going to have to go back and revisit the original version now. Really great Steve. It's a wonderful tribute and thanks for sharing.

Hi Steve, I appreciate that difficult choices were made in the sequencing of the recent BGO reissue release of "PUBLIC ACCESS"/"HEADLINE"/"CROSSINGS" but why was "Dedicated To You" left off the CD? This means that "CROSSINGS" was the only complete album, which is slightly disappointing. Long time fan living in UK (so have only seen you with Weather Update many moons ago!) Cheers, Ian

Hi Steve. The other day I listened to the interview that you gave to Leo Sidran in December, 2014 as part of his "The Third Story" podcast. I very much enjoyed what you said about "feeling mediocre at times" and how important it is to "focus on the things that we are good at." These comments and many other of your statements resonated with me. Thanks for this, I will share some parts of your statements with my students (engineering students, though).
