Steve, I don't believe that we have ever met. My musical history is Navasota, Steely Dan and the Doobie Brothers(among many others). I noticed my name several times in your Guestbook, but it is a most common name(even for a stage name), and I really don't know the connections. Oh yeah, Buddy Miles and I had a band together back in 1981. It was kind of fun. Steve Long

Hi Steve: Thanks for the many years of great music and vibes going back to the '70s when I saw you and Larry Coryell at the Savoy in Detroit. I was sorry to hear that your frequent collaborator Michael Brecker is seriously ill. Do you have any updates on his health?

I first heard you from a sale bin(for a buck) in 1977, "TWO FOR THE ROAD" with Larry Coryell. Opened me up for some fine music exploration, which continues to this day. Can't believe it's taken me this long to find this site. Wow, good job! Rob

Greetings Steve, I had the pleasure of hearing a large dose of your music last Saturday on XM's "Beyond Jazz." Your great sounding guitar is very inspiring. I remember first hearing "Sisé" on WAER-FM 15 years ago, and I was thrilled to be able to play it on the air myself at the same station 10 years later during my stint as a Jazz DJ. Thanks!

Hi! Yesterday I got the "MODERN TIMES", "CASA LOCO" and "EYEWITNESS" CDs from a friend. And I'm fascinated by the music of this band. You are so strong together. I hope there will be a reunion at some time in the future, if that happens, I'll be there watching and listening. Thank you, Steve

Steve: It was great to see you earlier this month with Larry Goldings and Harvey Mason. You sounded even better than on your records. Come back soon. The recent transcriptions at Korner 1 are fantastic too. Thanks again for signing my old CDs of yours.

Love the transcriptions page, especially the Benson solo from the "COOKBOOK" album. Many years ago I was in one of Steve's workshops, and I am still working on what he offered during those classes. Thanks!
