KHAN'S
KORNER has been divided into KORNER 1
and KORNER 2 pages to better serve
all our visitors. KORNER 1 is devoted to transcriptions. As 2006 came to a close, our annual "Holiday Surprise" for December arrived, and it turned out to be two Wes Montgomery solos over his own composition, "Twisted Blues" which appears on both "SO MUCH GUITAR"(Riverside) and later on, "GOIN' OUT OF MY HEAD"(Verve). Joy to the World!!! So far, during 2007, we have offered a couple of fantastic surprises including Kenny Burrell's wonderful solo on "Stompin' at the Savoy" which appeared on his "A GENERATION AGO TODAY" recording. And, this was followed by Pat Martino's solo on Clifford Brown's blues in 'F': "Sandu" which appears on the Don Patterson LP titled, "FOUR DIMENSIONS." Just recently, we brought you Jim Hall's solo on "I've Got You Under My Skin" from "INTERMODULATION" with Bill Evans. Right now, as a tribute to the passing of Steve's dear friend, Michael Brecker, we offer Mike's soprano sax solo on "Call" which appeared on Hal Galper's classic Fusion release "THE GUERILLA BAND"(Mainstream)! Even though Mike hated the soprano sax, please check this one out!!! |
